I’ve been updating my CV recently. The old one was looking a bit tired, and needed bringing up to date. Fortunately there is plenty of great help out there, when it come to putting together a CV. You can do it the lazy way and get someone else to do it for you, or you can use the great hints and tips available online to craft your own. I’d definitely recommend the latter…

Looper is the latest in the series of “The best films I failed to see in 2012″…My biggest problem with the film though, wasn’t the dubious plot, or inner existential debate that the time travel plot provoked…

This article was inspired by two things:
1. I watched “Skint” last night on channel 4. It was pretty depressing.
It also sent Twitter crazy, with people broadly split into three camps. Those who either found it “an indictment of Thatchers legacy”, “a good reason why we should cut all benefits/sterilise people” or people who found it “funny”. In many ways I found this a more damning indictment of modern Britain, than the programme itself.

Oh…you need more? Ok. Headhunters is a Norwegian film, based on the book of the same name by Jo Nesbo. Whilst the name perhaps brings to mind gruesome images of people with big spears, the “headhunters” in the title refer to the type that work in the murky field of recruitment…

Ok, here we go with the next installment of the Best Books Ever Written. This time, its “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” by Junior Diaz.
Oscar is a young Dominican teenager when we first come across him. He’s overweight, obsessed by writing science fiction and role-playing games, and has zero luck with the opposite sex. In other words, he is very un-Dominican…

Kurt Vonnegut novels were a recurring theme in the last book I reviewed, The Universe Versus Alex Woods. So I thought I’d pick up one of Vonnegut’s books. Slaughterhouse Five, is one of Vonnegut’s best known works, and deserves its status as a modern classic, and one of the best books ever written.
Slaughterhouse Five tells the story of a young American soldier, Billy Pilgrim, and his experiences in both the Second World War and er… inter-galactic time travel!
